Premium project heavy lift carrier, AAL Shipping (AAL), proudly supports International Anti-Corruption Day (Monday 9th December) – an annual day to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of corruption and to foster international collaboration in combating it.
The day emphasises the importance of transparency, accountability and integrity in sustainable development and ensuring fairness in global practices – all pillars of AAL Shipping’s own anti-corruption and wider ESG strategy. As a company committed to ethical practices, AAL promotes strong governance policies and embeds anti-corruption principles throughout its operations, with a zero-tolerance approach.
A proud member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) – a global business network dedicated to freeing the maritime industry of corruption and enabling fair trade harmonisation across the world’s jurisdictions – AAL would like to join the organisation in taking the opportunity to highlight the network’s accomplishments.
Since its establishment in 2011 by a small group of maritime companies, MACN has made great progress in raising industry standards – growing to an organisation made up of over 190 companies worldwide. It is one of the pre-eminent examples of collective action to tackle corruption in the shipping industry. Through its membership, AAL collaborates with industry peers, governments, and civil society to implement robust anti-corruption measures, share best practices, and advocate for systemic reforms.
Felix Schoeller, Commercial Director at AAL and a member of its Sustainability Committee, commented: “Whilst we use International Anti-Corruption Day as a tool to reflect on successes, let’s also remain steadfast in our mission to champion accountability and transparency across the supply chain and eradicate corruption from the maritime industry.
“Corruption undermines economic growth, disrupts fair trade, and erodes public trust. In the shipping sector, where cross-border operations and regulatory complexity create opportunities for illicit practices, combating corruption is especially critical. By marking this day, organisations and governments reaffirm their commitment to a transparent and ethical global economy.”
