AAL Shipping (AAL) is proudly celebrating its 30th anniversary during 2025 and March provided not just one but two opportunities to celebrate this achievement with valued customers and partners: at the WBX (World Breakbulk Expo) in Shanghai from March 6-7 and the Mega Cargo Show 2025 in Mumbai from March 11-12.
WBX in Shanghai attracted nearly 10,000 visitors from across the sector and AAL welcomed over 1,500 delegates on its stand, in addition to hosting an intimate dinner with key clients and esteemed partners. This provided a valuable platform to engage with clients, partners and industry peers as well as showcase our gratitude to those colleagues for 30 years of successful collaboration.

Jack Zhou, General Manager and Chief Representative (China), said: “It is an incredible privilege to be a part of such a significant industry gathering, particularly as it takes place in Shanghai, which has been central to our operations since our inception 30 years ago and has served as our base in China for the past 27 years. As we celebrate three decades of operations, we like to use these important occasions to show our appreciation to our regional partners, whose trust and support have been instrumental in our success over the past 30 years.
“AAL’s participation at WBX Shanghai – as one of the few international heavy lift, project carriers to exhibit at the exhibition – underscores our unwavering commitment to the Chinese market and our dedication to fostering the strong partnerships that have led to our success thus far.”
China remains a key market for AAL, with its fast-growing infrastructure sector, expansive renewable energy projects as well as its booming manufacturing output that maintains its status as a leading project cargo exporter. AAL’s deep-rooted expertise in the Chinese market was a focal point during the event, with the team contributing to critical industry discussions. Carrie Xu, Senior Sales Manager of AAL China, shared insights on building a resilient project logistics ecosystem, while Jack Zhou, General Manager and Chief Representative (China), joined a panel on the safe and efficient transport of dangerous goods – a sector where AAL has seen significant growth.
The momentum from Shanghai continued at the Mega Cargo Show 2025 in Mumbai. During his keynote speech at the event, AAL’s Global Head of Chartering Marc Willim spoke of India’s projected economic growth and the opportunities for the breakbulk and project cargo sector.
“India’s robust economic outlook is underpinned by its rapid industrialisation, ambitious infrastructure projects, and the ever-expanding manufacturing sector, all of which are driving the increased demand for breakbulk and project cargo services. Initiatives such as Make in India, the Sagarmala Programme, the Bharatmala Project, alongside the push for renewable energy, investments in power plants and establishment of data centre parks make for a dynamic and exciting market,” added Willim.
“As we celebrate our 30-year history, we reflect on the great partnerships we have built in India. This event was an opportunity not just to engage with the market, but also to commemorate three decades of collaboration as we look to the future with great promise.”

The celebrations in Mumbai culminated in a special after-exhibition dinner reception, held in the heart of the city, where AAL once again honoured its partners and reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian market.
AAL’s engagement with stakeholders remains central to its 30-year success, and these milestone events reinforced the importance of strong partnerships in navigating the evolving landscape of the global project cargo industry.
